Madhuvanthi Arun

'Madhuvanthi Arun is the granddaughter of the eminent educationist Dr.Mrs.Y.G.Parthasarathy and Late Shri.Y.G.Parthasarathy, a pioneer of social themes in Tamil theatre and the former Principal of the Film and Television Institute of India. She is also the daughter of the Tamil cinema and theatre personality Mr.Y.Gee.Mahendra.'

A holder of a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communication she has also completed her Masters in Education and has worked as the coordinator for the nursery section of the T.P.Road branch of the P.S.B.B. group of schools.

A multi faceted personality that she is, Madhuvanthi has learnt Bharatanatyam from none other than Padma Bhushan Dr.Padma Subrahmaniam and has several dance performances and productions to her credit. Her dance performances have made her travel all over the world including U.S.A., Canada, U.K., Paris and Malaysia.

Madhuvanthi believes in using art to unite the presently fragmented ethos as she sees a lot of commonalities in the culture of Europe and Asia and she genuinely feels that art transcends all barriers. Incidentally she is also the cultural consultant of Bharat Kalachar.

Madhuvanthi Arun has recently given shape to a vision that she's always had, of opening a school on International lines giving the children the freedom to think laterally and naming such a school after her grandmother, the great educationist, Mrs.Y.G.P. On her grandmother's eightieth birthday, this was the intellectual gift that she gave her illustrious grandmother. The school was launched in December 2005 by none other than our President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. This school is located in Mylapore and houses classes from Pre-K.G. to Std 3.

Madhuvanthi Arun looks forward to a future where together with her husband Arun she will take her Trust, The Calibre Educational Foundation forward and set up path breaking educational institutions that will empower students to excel in the changing global scenario.

Arun Kumar Vaddi

Arun's work until now has straddled almost everything in the creative arts, be it Writing, Fiction and Documentary Films, Theatre or Television. His diverse work is backed by an impressive education that includes graduation in Visual Communication from the Prestigious Loyola College, the Film programme at University of Southern California (Los Angeles), whose alumni consist of personalities such as George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis, Ron Howard etc... as well as theatre workshops in New York. He is currently studying Indian Art and Aesthetics in Mumbai.

He has directed a number of films on various topics ranging from travelogues to documentaries to children's programming as well as Ad-Films for leading brands like Nike, Mattel and Coca-Cola both in India and the USA. Arun has written and directed theatre productions involving experimental elements like multimedia interactions with traditional and contemporary dance that have toured all over the world.

Arun is now writing a book as well as developing an English feature film that explores story telling through the Indian idiom. He has been commissioned to write the story and screenplay for an English animation feature film as well. This year he has received accreditation at the Festival de Cannes in France as well as the Tribecca Film Festival in New York.

The Calibre Arts & Media Foundation started by him with his wife Madhuvanthi is currently working with various artists, teachers and international organizations from around the world to develop a comprehensive Arts curriculum at the school level while he is studying a course in Indian Aesthetics (Religion, Philosophy and Art)

Arun's maternal grandparents are the famous movie icons Gemini Ganesan and Savitri. His paternal grandfather Hanumantha Rao was a political activist and his grandmother Balamma according to Arun is the best cook in the world.
