Year of Conslidation-2007-2008

If the first year of our existence was spent in setting ourselves up and settling into the groove of what we had set to do, the second year was one of consolidation. If one casts an eye on the happenings of this year (2007-08), one will realize that here was a school which knew exactly what it had to do to establish a reputation for itself, which I am glad to say it has and how gloriously it has done so!

To begin with, our Head Teacher saw to it that by way of a talent quest, we were able to single out our talented students, both old and new right in the beginning of the year so that for the rest of the year we would not have to grope around for students when competitions were to be attended. And we hit the bull’s eye with many of our students winning several competitions.

Our Correspondent decided to spread her wings and made it to Muscat, Mumbai, Delhi establishing contacts with reputed schools in all these places with whom she has started negotiations for a partnership or at least an exchange of teaching methodologies and curriculum. This is being done solely with the purpose of giving our school children a global exposure.

Our Head Teacher, Mrs. Bharathi Naimpally along with Kruthika, our ICT lab teacher winged her way to U.K. as part of the exchange programme of the Global School Project being run under the auspices of the British Council. As expected they were a hit, both with the children, the staff of The Edward Richardson Primary School and the parents of the students of the aforesaid school. This trip has proved very useful in bringing the children of both our school and the Edward Richardson Primary School, closer. We can look forward to many important projects being done together during the next academic year.

Rare festivals such as “The flower festival” and the “Coconut festival or Nariyal Purnima”were basically chosen to be celebrated because the children not only came to know of some rare festivals but both these festivals celebrate Nature and the philanthropic aspect of nature. Our Head Teacher feels that children in today’s world should be taught to be sensitive to this aspect of nature and should inculcate it into their lives.

Our efforts over these two years bore fruit when two of our children Pavitra Venkatraman and Harsaa.S did extremely well in both the Science Olympiad and the Macmillan exams. They both won medals. It was indeed an achievement for a school which had hardly turned two.

Last but not the least, our Annual Day Celebrations this year was a stupendous success!!!A Theatre presentation on Jataka Tales, bringing alive the sublimity contained in Buddha’s teachings and the moral inherent in each of the story selected, the children simply outdid themselves ,acting like true professional on stage so much so that they left the array of distinguished guests along with all the others who attended the show, gasping for breath. Such was the perfection with which these little stars of ours performed!

The academic year of 07-08 may have ended on a high note, but we know we cannot stop there. There is a lot more to be achieved and a lot more milestones to be established. And----we have miles to go before we sleep----miles to go before we sleep!!!
