Our 1st day in schoolOn July 7th, children from UKG to std. 3 celebrated Gurupurnima, the day dedicated to our Gurus. A special assembly was held wherein the children were first made to understand the greatness of the role played by our gurus in our lives and why they should be respected.
The children, led by our music teacher, Mrs. Gayathri, began the session with a recitation of the famous shloka on our Gurus,”Gurubramha, Guruvishnu ----“
This was followed by our teacher, Mrs. Sashiprabha, speaking about the importance of Gurupurnima. She said that Our Gurus are like Gods on earth and that we should not hesitate to do anything for them.Gurupurnima is normally celebrated on a full moon day in the month of ASHADA and is dedicated to Sage Veda Vyasa, the Guru of Gurus.
Mrs. Sumathi then narrated the wonderful story of Dronacharya and his famous disciples, the Pandavas and the Kauravas.
The assembly concluded with a scintillating dance performance by Ms. Ritvika, our dance teacher, on Lord Nataraja, the Guru or the Lord of dance.
