Truth About Tigers15th July was a Red Letter day in the history of Calibre Academy as they took one more step forward into the world of innovative teaching by introducing Robotics into its regular curriculum.Dr. Mrs Y.G. Parthasarathy, Padmashree awardee and the Dean and Director of the Padma Seshadri Group of schools inaugurated the well equipped and techno savvy laboratory at no. 90 Lloyds Road which houses the Middle School of Calibre Academy.
Mrs. Madhuvanthi Arun, Correspondent, Calibre Academy, was euphoric over the fact that Calibre Academy is the FIRST school in India to have an exclusive laboratory within the school premises and a course which is to be integrated with the regular curriculum of the school.
Veejayshree,Head Projects, Robotix Lab Research Academy, is very enthusiastic about the whole project and is sure that it will be a success! The launch was well attended by the Press which seemed fascinated by the fact that a subject purely related with engineering was to be taught to children, 6 years old.
The idea behind the introduction of Robotics into the regular curriculum is to introduce to all students from std 1 to 8, a new and a fascinating subject which can be integrated with their Maths and Science syllabus. They will be taught the basic principles involved in Automation and Robotics by relating the theory to what they see and use in their day-to-day life, starting from the ATM machine to the modern day automatic security system that is being employed.
The course on Robotics is integrated with the Science and Mathematics syllabus of the respective classes. This helps the students understand better, all that they learn in their classrooms, because of the “hands-on” experience they get by working on the same concepts practically. The course at the end of the academic year ends with the students attempting a project on a Robotic Principle under the guidance of the Research Associates from Robotix Lab Research Academy who will be stationed at the Laboratory in the School to teach the students.
